49ers will play five prime-time games this season

The NFL released the schedule for the upcoming 2020 season on Friday evening, and the 49ers will play five prime-time games, including four at Levi’s Stadium, and will both open and close the regular season at home.

SF will play three games on NBC’s Sunday Night Football (Week 4 vs. Eagles, Week 6 vs. L.A. Rams, and Week 15 at the Cowboys), one on Monday Night Football on ESPN (Week 13 vs. Bills) and one on Thursday Night Football (Week 9 vs. Green Bay).

In addition to the annual six divisional games, the 49ers and the rest of the NFC West will play against the AFC East and NFC East in 2020, as part of the normal rotation to determine out-of-division and out-of-conference opponents. Since the 49ers won the West this year, they will also have to play the 2019 first-place teams from the NFC North and NFC South — so, the 13-3 Green Bay Packers and 13-3 New Orleans Saints, respectively.

Here is the 49ers’ complete 2020 regular-season schedule (all times are Pacific):

Week 1 (Sunday, Sept. 13, 1:25 p.m.): 49ers vs. Cardinals
Week 2: (Sunday, Sept. 20, 10 a.m.): 49ers at NY Jets
Week 3 (Sunday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m.):  49ers at NY Giants

Week 7 (Sunday, Oct. 25, 1:25 p.m.):  49ers at Patriots
Week 8 (Sunday, Nov. 1, 1:25 p.m.): 49ers at Seahawks
Week 9 (Thursday, Nov. 5, 5:20 p.m.): 49ers vs. Packers (TNF)

Week 11: Bye week
